Downtown Las Vegas -- at center. It is the original townsite, and the Downtown gaming area was the primary gambling district of Las Vegas prior to the Strip. Now the main drag -- Fremont Street, home to most of downtown's hotels and casinos. -- is covered with a big five-block long canopy. The 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever featured a chase scene in which James Bond, running from Las Vegas police, side-rolls a car through an alley exiting onto Fremont Street.

We flew home out of San Jose with a stop in Lost Wages. Taking off from Vegas I got some good shots of the city.

Here's a good shot of the Las Vegas Strip (lower center) with McCarran Airport at center. The new football stadium is on the right side of the airport.
